Artwork by Miroslav Dimitrov of the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupé.
Based on the highly successful racing car from 1952 – W194, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupé is considered by many to be the world’s first true production supercar. Nicknamed the “Gullwing” for its distinctive door openings, due to the unusully high door sills, the 300SL was a design and engineering masterpiece well ahead of its time. In 1955, it was also the fastest production car in the world, reaching top speeds of over 260km/h. The “Gullwing“ is widely considered an automotive icon and with only 1400 units built between 1955 & 1957, the car is believed to be one of the rarest and most sought after creations by the legendary German marque.
