Original Artwork of the 1980 BMW M1 Procar, as driven by the famous F1 driver Nelson Piquet.
Serving as Formula 1 support series, the BMW M1 Procar Championship series was created by BMW Motorsport in order to meet FIA’s regulations. A minimum of 400 examples were built to meet Group 4, before the car could be further homologated for Group 5 competition. The Procar series only lasted two seasons from 1979 to 1980, but was an immediate success with motorsport fans. In 1980 Nelson Piquet won the Procar Championship title in this white/green/yellow coloured M1 Procar, claiming the last 3 wins of the season.
With bodywork designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro and only 450 cars ever built (street and Procars included), the M1 remains one of the most exotic cars ever made by BMW. With flared fenders, imposing front spoiler, massive rear wing and incredible power, the M1 Procar is the ultimate expression of this iconic automobile.
