Based on the highly successful racing car from 1952 \u2013 W194, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coup\u00e9 is considered by many to be the world\u2019s first true production supercar. Nicknamed the \u201cGullwing\u201d for its distinctive door openings, due to the unusully high door sills, the 300SL was a design and engineering masterpiece well ahead of its time. In 1955, it was also the fastest production car in the world, reaching top speeds of over 260km\/h. The \u201cGullwing\u201c is widely considered an automotive icon and with only 1400 units built between 1955 & 1957, the car is believed to be one of the rarest and most sought after creations by the legendary German marque.<\/p>\n
